Do you have a favorite TV show theme song? If we are honest with ourselves, we all do and if you are like me, I have several. I’m an 80’s baby and as a teenager, I grew up during the TGIF era that was very popular in the 90’s. Now if you ask me, that was a great time to be alive because the 90’s was a blast! The lineup of TV shows that aired every Friday were amazing and every time I think about it, I get feelings of nostalgia.
I can still remember the rush to get home on Fridays from school because my parents would always have some type of snacks ready for us to eat. We didn’t have much growing up because we were poor, but my parents always made sure to have us something so we could enjoy the lineup. Most times it would be nacho cheese Doritos, popcorn, fruit by the foot and chek sodas from Winn-Dixie. A few times we had Little Caesars pizza, Capri Suns and the ingredients to make a banana split for dessert. Whatever we had, let me assure you that we were grateful.
As I’m sitting here typing this blog post, I can feel my body and soul swell with so many positive emotions because it brings back so many good memories. Man, bring back the 90’s!
There were three shows in this lineup that I looked forward to the most because I was crazy about the theme song and the show: Family Matters, Full House and Step by Step. I guess it’s because I was around the same age as most of the cast members and could relate to some of the issues that were discussed on those shows. It didn’t hurt that the theme songs were catchy.
